Session Abstracts
Keynote: Ethics in the Workplace
Speaker: Kelly Hayden, J.D., HR Source
This keynote cuts through the noise on what “ethics in the workplace” really means — and why it’s nonnegotiable for today’s organizations. Kelly will break down common ethical pitfalls, the real drivers behind bad behavior, and the policies and training every company must have in place. Leaders will walk away with practical, defensible steps to build a culture where ethical decisions are the norm, not the exception.
Keynote: “And You Thought It Was Just AI… Our Hyperconnected Future”
Speaker: Alasdair Monk, ACM Consulting
Manufacturers, OEMs, and building system leaders don’t need another introduction to AI or IoT — they need to know what comes next. This keynote shows how manufacturers can start creating real differentiation in industrial and commercial air movement.
From the big picture view with of the age of hyper-acceleration and connectivity through to real‑world case studies and thought‑provoking scenarios, Alasdair Monk will show how intelligent products and systems can:
- Embed insight directly into workflows, helping engineers and facility managers act faster and smarter.
- Differentiate offerings by turning fans, pumps, and HVAC systems into nodes in building healthy ecosystems.
- Unlock value from existing data — learning from current assets to improve upgrades and next‑generation designs.
- Balance governance and innovation, ensuring connected systems are not just efficient but safe, ethical, and trusted.
Attendees will leave with practical frameworks — Focus, Flow, Feedback — and actionable ideas to take back to their plants, projects, and facilities. This is not about “how to write a prompt.” It’s about how air movement leaders can use AI, IoT, and digital transformation to stand apart, serve clients better, and build systems that anticipate rather than react.
Keynote: From Policy to Performance: Winning the Next Decade of Manufacturing
Win the next decade of manufacturing—starting now.
The One Big Beautiful Bill (OBBB) is changing the rules for North American manufacturers and OEMs. This high‑impact session shows you exactly how to convert policy into performance—fast.
What you’ll take away:
- Maximize OBBB incentives for U.S. manufacturers and Canadian OEMs—including permanent 100% bonus depreciation, expanded Section 179, and immediate R&D expensing.
- Decode OBBB’s domestic content rules: coordinate sourcing and tax planning to better position for manufacturing credits under evolving requirements.
- Driving margin and resilience through OpEx and Digital Transformation: How leading manufacturers are combining disciplined cost management with ROI-driven investments to improve decision-making, productivity, and capital efficiency - while strengthening governance and long-term value creation.
Who should attend: CFOs, controllers, tax leaders, plant and operations executives, and growth teams seeking actionable guidance—not theory.
Outcome: A practical playbook you can implement on day one to reduce cash taxes, accelerate investment, and sharpen your edge in 2026 and beyond.
Beyond the Numbers: Applying FEI for Smarter Fan Selection and Strategic Advantage
Speaker: Mike Bump, Greenheck Fan & Mark Barry, TCF
This session offers a clear, actionable breakdown of Fan Efficiency Index (FEI) — what it measures, why it matters, and how it can transform fan selection, product development, and market positioning. Learn how manufacturers are applying FEI internally, how it influences rebate eligibility and compliance, and how to communicate FEI’s value to customers, engineers, reps, and code officials.
The AIA Materials Pledge & LEED v5: Understanding the Sustainability Reporting Landscape

Exploring Ways to Control Industrial Fan Performance: Mechanical vs. Electrical Methods
Speaker: TBD
Fan control isn’t one-size-fits-all. This session compares mechanical and electrical control methods — from inlet vanes and dampers to adjustable speed drives — and explains how each affects flow, pressure, temperature, and overall system performance. Attendees will learn how to match the right control strategy to their application by evaluating the entire fan system, not just the fan itself.
Air Movement’s Crossroads: Navigating Industry Challenges, Unlocking New Opportunities, and Gearing Up for the Future
Speakers: Naga Thiyagarajan & Curtis Rosol, Mars Air Systems
This session opens a candid discussion about the external and internal forces reshaping the air movement and control industry. From product-specifying bottlenecks and shifting Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) expectations to emerging tech like Building Information Modeling (BIM), AI, and smart controls, we’ll examine what’s real, what’s hype, and what requires immediate action. Together, attendees will map the key opportunities where AMCA and its members can lead, rather than react.
Exploring Limitations of Water Infiltration Resistance of Wall Louvers
Speaker: Jacob Carr, AWV
While louver performance ratings provide a standardized measure of water infiltration resistance, real-world conditions often expose the limits of these values. This session examines how lab test results compare to actual field performance, highlighting key factors that influence discrepancies, and how to evaluate louver types — including conventional non-drainable or drainable blade louvers versus wind driven rain-rated louvers. Attendees will gain clarity on interpreting test data and specifying louvers more effectively.
LDCF & ACF Markets: Insight, Compliance & the Path Forward
Speaker: Katlyn Stoker, Big Ass Fans
This session breaks down the current landscape for LDCF and ACF markets, including noncompliant product trends, enforcement challenges, and the impact of uneven regulatory oversight. Katlyn will also outline upcoming enforcement shifts and state-level initiatives that may reshape the market — and how manufacturers can prepare now.
Speak Up with Confidence: Mastering Communication in Every Setting
Speaker: Mark Bublitz, The New York Blower Company
In just one hour, learn practical, repeatable techniques to communicate with clarity and confidence in any setting. This fast-paced session covers how to reduce speaking anxiety, engage your audience, and deliver your message effectively — whether in meetings, presentations, or everyday interactions.
Marketing the Problem: Why it’s important for facility teams to understand their HVAC options
Speaker: Matt Kent, Q-PAC
Facility teams face overwhelming HVAC choices — and an industry that’s historically slow to innovate. This session explores why education, transparency, and “marketing the problem” are essential to helping owners and operators make informed decisions. Learn how clearer communication and simpler options can reshape expectations and accelerate adoption of better solutions.
Compare & Contrast Louver Impact Test Standards
Speakers: Mike Steele & Brandon Black, Greenheck Group
Impact requirements vary widely across AMCA 540, Florida TAS-201, ICC-500, and other standards. This session compares the major test methods, clarifies how qualified sizes are determined, and explains where — and why — compliance is mandated in building codes. Attendees will learn how to evaluate impact-rated louvers with confidence.
What’s the CRAC? A Practical Look at Data Center Cooling
Speaker: Nicholas Popp, Ziehl-Abegg
Data centers are under pressure as AI accelerates heat loads and energy demand. Learn how the industry is adapting through new technologies focused on efficiency, reliability, and sustainability.
Louver Free Area: Misconceptions, Lessons & Effects on Air System Components
Speaker: Russell Geist, Construction Specialties Inc.
The industry’s obsession with “50% free area” often ignores the realities of modern louver design. This session breaks down how louver type, size, and performance characteristics influence system design — and why free area alone no longer tells the full story. Using comparative examples, attendees will learn how to specify louvers that balance performance, protection, and overall system efficiency.
Life Safety & Control Dampers: Trends You Should Be Watching
